Mamasake Fiji: Great Sushi & Tapas in Nadi
Chef Elsa Corrigan’s Mamasake Fiji restaurant is a social gathering place with excellent fish and meat dishes with a large open floor plan and high ceilings. Mamasake Fiji has a “high energy environment” that suits the visitor and local alike. This place has been changing up the dining scene since it opened a year ago in Fiji’s main island in Nadi.
It’s an easy 15-minute drive from Denarau and a 10-minute drive from Nadi Town. It’s the perfect night out for great food while staying in either Denarau or Nadi. Menu items at Mamasake include sustainable seafood, meats, vegetarian, vegan, gluten free, mostly organic, local and regionally sourced produce, and rice.
Chef Elsa is a graduate of the California Culinary Academy in San Francisco. She has experience at restaurants in San Francisco, Napa Valley, London, and Lake Tahoe. Additionally, Chef Elsa has traveled all through Europe and Asia. She has gained a large amount of knowledge from her travels. Inspiration in her dishes comes from the foods she’s tasted in these regions as well as California and the United States. Her dishes have Asian influences and she has created her own unique style of sushi rolls and sashimi.
Mamasake Fiji was not Chef Elsa’s first creation. Earlier in her career, Chef Elsa was the Executive Sous Chef at an Italian restaurant in San Francisco’s Nob Hill and then fast-forward to her first Mamasake restaurant in Squaw Valley in northern California. Chef Elsa opened Mamasake Fiji last June as her second Mamasake restaurant and rave reviews have been coming in since then. She has truly invented herself amongst the community in Fiji with her sustainable seafood, organic produce and hormone-free and antibiotic-free meats.
