Fiji Weddings: InterContinental Fiji: The Complete Pampered Wedding Experience
InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa is situated on the gorgeous Natadola Bay in Fiji’s main island, Viti Levu. Experience an absolutely unforgettable wedding at the resort that features captivating design, exquisite cuisine, authentic Fijian experience, spacious rooms, and one of the most beautiful beaches as a backdrop for your wedding.
One of the most compelling reasons for a wedding here is the view. The beautiful waters of Natadola Bay provide one of the most spectacular views, which make it the ultimate destination for a wedding. The resort makes each and every wedding special by only allowing one wedding per day to make sure each couple gets undivided attention and their big day is perfect.
Soqo Lagilagi
For the ultimate wedding experience at InterContinental, the Soqo Lagilagi option allows for the exclusive use of Club InterContinental for five nights and 110 guests. Imagine looking out on top of a hill at sweeping ocean views, an infinity pool, and all your guests enjoying on the night of your life. Club InterContinental has 55 hilltop accommodations with one-bedroom and two-bedroom club suites, all complete with Cleopatra-style baths and daybeds and many featuring private plunge pools. If you are planning for a larger wedding, the rooms in the main part of the hotel are lovely as well. There are 216 main resort rooms with private terraces or balconies to allow guests the chance to enjoy the sunset over Natadola Bay.
Another option is the intimate wedding pavilion with views of Natadola Bay, or you can get married on the white sandy beach at sunset. Reception venues include one of the many beachfront settings and the stunning 4th Hole at the Natadola Bay Golf Course. The chapel is even equipped to provide a live feed of the couple’s ceremony to family and friends who are not able to make the trip.
Signature Pre-Wedding Events
While the wedding executives are planning and preparing the big day, the bride and the groom can relax and feel energized at A Day at the Spa for her and A Day on the Green for him.
Spa InterContinental combines Asian, Eastern, and Western treatment methods together to restore the body. The therapists are friendly, and they offer treatments with fresh herbs and plants that have been used to heal for generations. Brides at the resort get to prepare for their special day with a luxurious spa experience and a glass of bubbles in one of the floating spa treatment rooms. For bridal parties, you can reserve a special spa celebration room in advance. The spa has a Wai Zone, which includes a pre- and post-treatment area offering aqua therapy with water in all three states—gas, liquid, and solid—a steam area, a hydrotherapy Jacuzzi, and an ice room.
The gentleman gets a boy’s outing at Natadola Bay Golf Course located adjacent to the resort. The groom and his guests can enjoy nine or 18 holes of championship golf while being refreshed with beverages from an on-course beverage cart. The par 72 championship standard golf course has five tee positions on each hole to meet the needs of all types of players. After the round, the guys can enjoy more beverages from the bar at the golf course with an awesome view, coral reefs, and surf breaks.
Cuisine
There are a number of mouthwatering options available for the special meal of the evening. Chefs use only the freshest ingredients, such as rock lobsters from Fiji’s Yasawa Islands and chocolate from Savusavu. Some specialties to choose from include the twice-cooked Vuda pork belly (teriyaki-marinated pork belly, sweet potato and goat cheese filo, daikon fondant, sumiso, cranberry, and red wine compote) and the Fijian kokoda Spanish mackerel ceviche (lime juice, coconut cream, capsicum, and coriander).
Days before or after the wedding, you can enjoy a signature dining experience, from a private beachside cabana dinner to dining under the stars overlooking Natadola Bay. Mornings feature an adult-only set-course breakfast at the signature Navo restaurant.
Activities
There’s plenty to keep busy at InterContinental Fiji from the “love pods” at the adult-only infinity pool and the 18-hole Natadola Championship Golf Course to diving, fishing, parasailing, kayaking, surfing, and cultural tours.
Wedding Rituals
Another unique element to an InterContinental Fiji wedding is that wedding planners are well-versed in global wedding rituals. Whether you want a traditional ritual from home, an international ritual or one you make up on your own, wedding planners can help organize that ritual. If you prefer to use a Fijian ritual, here are a few fun ones:
Natadola Sand Ritual
Origin: Pacific Islands
This ritual signifies the fusion of two lives in a single journey. The bride and groom each pour colored sand mixed with Natadola Bay’s white sands into a lone vase symbolizing their new life together as husband and wife.
Uvu Ni Davui
Origin: Fiji Islands
Translated as “Sounding of the Conch Shell”, this traditional Fijian ritual signifies a momentous occasion, and heralds the arrival of the bride to the ceremony.
Voqa Ni Lali
Origin: Fiji Islands
The beating of the Lali is sometimes used in Fijian culture to bring people together for a gathering. The lali will be beat half an hour before the ceremony to draw your wedding guests to the ceremony venue.
Cabori Ni Yaqona
Origin: Fiji Islands
Presentation of the Kava followed by a Kava Ceremony signifies the union of the families of the bride and groom. The presentation of Kava usually follows the wedding ceremony and is performed while everyone is seated at the beginning of the reception.
Yabeni Ni Marama
Origin: Fiji Islands
Warrior escorts symbolize stature and were used to accompany chiefly family members in every significant gathering. Warriors would have escorted a Fijian princess to her wedding day. The resort’s Fijian warriors will be dressed in full traditional wear to escort the bride.
Getting There
The InterContinental Fiji is located south of Nadi International Airport. Guests can be transported by vehicle in 50 minutes.
